Apron ready for Swap

I finished my apron today for the Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice Apron Swap. Now I'm working on a few surprises to go with it.

I have to say I really like how it came out. I made a second one just like it for my shop at Punkie Pie's Boutique on Etsy.

Here are some more pictures of the apron ...

Leave a comment and let me know what you think of this sassy apron. Thanks!

Vintage Style

I have finally completed some of my vintage inspired aprons. Since Valentine's Day is around the corner I got inspired to make these vintage style aprons using fabrics from Moda's "Love is in the air" collection by Deb Strain. I've been working hard at getting the time to make these. They are for sale at my etsy shop.

Here is a 'heart shaped' apron made from the pink & green Moda's, "Love is in the air" fabrics. I love the ruffle that goes all the way around the apron ...

Here is the "Chocolate Love" apron I designed with a pleated bottom and a nice size pocket on the right side. The pink ric rac trim really brings out the nice shade of pink the fabric.

More vintage, flirty, sassy aprons to come. I have 6 aprons cut out and ready to be sewn. Now to find the time to get them completed and in my shop, Punkie Pie's Boutique.

Have a good week everyone!

Monogrammed Bath Towels

Lately I've been sewing so much that I haven't had much time to do any machine embroidery. So this month I decided to set some time aside to monogram bath towels for my mom's birthday. She had her bathroom updated a few months ago. I tried to pick colors that matched well with her new decor. The towels are a golden color, the monogram is a shade of green and accented white daisies and little lady bugs.

I made a gift basket with the towels, soaps, lotions, bath scrubby, and Lindt chocolates (dark chocolate and coconut white chocolate). I think I've made towels for every family member but myself. Maybe some day I'll be inspired to do so.

Now that this project is done and the holidays are over I will be concentrating on getting my new line of sassy flirty aprons ready for my etsy shop. I found some really great fabrics over at Fabricworm, Fabric Supplies and Fabric.com

Such as this new

Apron-ology .. Aprons With An Attitude ...

I can't wait for the premier issue of Apron-ology to come out on February 1st, 2009. "With all the glamour and charm of aprons Stampington & Company brings you apron•ology™, a magazine that will present delightful photographs and illustrations featuring exciting apron designs with simple techniques and templates that will be fun for the DIY-er to recreate. Apron•ology™ will also feature ideas on how to repurpose vintage aprons, and how to wear them with attitude and style".

These ladies have been working hard at getting this publication ready... take a look at how fun their jobs must be! Oh, and so inspiring too!

It looks like some Apron enthusiasts (Creations From Heart, Melinda's Fabric Fancies, etc.) have submitted their designs to be featured in this new publication. I can't wait to see!

Go to Stampington to pre-order your copy of Apron-ology. You'll see other new pubs coming out too. Such as Stuffed, Green raft, and ArtQuilting.

I also ordered a copy of "Where Women Create". I took a peek at my friends issue and there's so many great inspirations from these women!

Happy New Year!

Every year we get out our family's New Years Eve party kit that contains party hats, noise makers, necklaces, etc. We're not sure how this has become our tradition, but it is what we do every year. My brother and his family come every New Years and that is also when we exchange our Christmas presents so it's like having Christmas all over again. The boys totally enjoyed themselves for the 48 hours we were together.

My kids really liked their "Slankies" so once again, last minute I whipped up 3 more Slankies for my 2 nephews and niece. I needed a quick way to do something with the boys Slankies so they would know who's belonged to who. I have an embroidery machine and thought about embroidering their intials but time was short so I drove down to JoAnn Fabric's and purchased some iron on embroidered intials. Not the same as real embriodery but they did the trick...

I think I've blogged enough about the Slankies!!! I promise no more!

Happy 2009 to all!
